On May 29, 2026, the 2026 Annual Meeting and Election Conference of the Biaxially Oriented Polypropylene (BOPP) Film Professional Committee of the China Plastics Processing Industry Association (CPPIA) was successfully convened in Hangzhou.
Through a vote by all member units, Mr. Fang Wenbin, Chairman of Gettel High-tech Materials Inc., was elected Chairman of the Fifth Council of the Committee.
Mr. Wang Zhanjie, Vice President of the China National Light Industry Council and President of the China Plastics Processing Industry Association, attended the conference and delivered a speech, expressing high expectations for the new council.
Themed “Innovation Empowers Green Transformation, Synergy Builds New Industrial Heights,” the conference comprehensively reviewed the achievements of the Fourth Council, deliberated and approved the industry development report, elected the new leadership, and chart a clear course for the high-quality development of the BOPP film industry.
In his inaugural address, Chairman Fang Wenbin noted that the industry is currently at a critical stage of structural adjustment, a pivotal period for green transition,transformation, and a breakthrough phase for intelligent upgrading. While facing challenges such as capacity expansion and intensifying homogeneous competition, the industry also embraces opportunities driven by the carbon peaking and carbon neutrality goals and growing high-end downstream demand. The new council will take “serving the industry and leading development” as its core mission, focusing on three key areas: first, strengthen the technological foundation and boost innovation. Promote the establishment of an industry-university-research collaborative innovation mechanism, focus on technological breakthroughs in functionalization, lightweighting, and environmental protection, solve common technical challenges, and guide enterprises toward differentiated and high-end development paths; second, build collaboration platforms and consolidate industrial synergy. Leverage the Committee’s role as a bridge and bond, regularly organize industry summits, supply-demand matchmaking events, and technology achievement exhibitions, promote resource sharing and complementary advantages across the industrial chain, curb disorderly low-price competition, and maintain a healthy industry ecosystem; third, Implement green concepts and advance transformational development. Thoroughly implement the “dual carbon” strategy, promote green production processes and circular economy models, formulate industry green development standards, guide enterprises to accelerate energy-saving and carbon-reduction technological upgrades, and help the industry upgrade toward low-carbon and sustainable directions.
During the industry sharing session, Li Zhuan, Assistant to the Chairman of Gettel High-tech Materials Inc., delivered a keynote report titled“High-Quality Development Path of China’s BOPP Film Industry and the ‘15th Five-Year Plan’ Blueprint.” Using detailed data analysis, he pointed out that the industry’s total production capacity has exceeded 8.13 million tons, with demand in high-end fields such as new energy capacitor films growing at over 10% annually. During the “15th Five-Year Plan” period, the industry should focus on three major directions: high-end, green, and intelligent development. He emphasized intensifying technological breakthroughs, cultivating differentiated competitiveness, strengthening industry self-discipline, abandoning low-price internal friction, and promoting synergistic win-win outcomes across the industrial chain.
The conference also elected the members of the Fifth Council. Guangdong Decro Advanced Films Co., Ltd., Furong New Materials Co., Ltd., Jiangsu Hengchuang Packaging Materials Co., Ltd., and Fujian Youyi Adhesive Tape Group Co., Ltd. were jointly elected as Deputy Chairman Units of the Fifth Council.
